Earliest Whatever

Scientists in Southern Nambia have found the fossil remains of a life form which they said is " very sophisticated early life". Which, to me, shows just how bleak it was back in those days.

The fossil is of a sea animal which has been named Namapoikia reitogensis. It has similar characteristics to sponges and corals that lived nearly 550 million years ago but the creature's hard shell and series of tubes is far more complex than anything else found from this time. Most other exoskeletons of this period were soft and leathery so it's thought that Namapoikia reitogensis must have lived in deep cracks inside the reef.
