Fixed..thanks for telling me :)

I'm sick to death of the Atlantis stuff...which is in no way any personal dig at anyone who isn't. Since I can remember, they've "found" it at least once a year and I've seen a parade of kooks get a lot of $$ out of people for the "cause", which always makes my radar go up. There's not much I could say about it all that hasn't been said - there's a zillion, extensive and good sites about it all. I personally don't think Atlantis exists only because of what I've read that's been brutally academic about it..you can trace the "story"of Atlanits as described by Plato farther back than his version and even find same-references but with much added story. People who Plato mentored said it was "just" a story and by no means any true historical record. Ditto on the Bermuda Triangle. There's plenty of stories about magnetic abberations out there, people reporting visual and time disturbances...but as far as all those missing and disappeared planes and ships, if you really dig and research, most of that is inncorrect. They didn't exist in the first place, records were kept wrong, names or numbers were confused. The # of actually MIA craft isn't that big at all. The weird reports are cool tho of course..I know a guy who was out on a boat in the BT who all of a sudden found himself in a sudden magnetic fog bank for 15 minutes by his watch that turned out to be 4 hours when he managed to get out of it. But there's so many sites with so much great info I don't think I could add anything to what people have already created. I'd be re-re-repeating it all. I'd rather stick to the fun and lesser-heard for now :) ~R~

That didn't excuse the fact that every burn out, pseudohippie, pot head and every quasi-tragically hip Earth Child has been screaming at me for 20 years about BUT DUDE...Tolkien rocks, man, and then citing every minutae of each book, like some launch into Monty Python skits the minute you mention the word "parrot" around them (that, I can handle). I guess I just got so sick of Tolkein being "trendy" before I read it, I didn't want to read it. Then when I was forced to sit thru the movie, I just got sick of looking at close ups of Frodo's big, watery eyes, him holding the ring out in his palm, him whining, and *just* getting into the incredible scenery and then BAM there's those Moose Eyes all full of tears again or his best friend who looked like Barney Rubble, telling him to Butch The Hell up. And that Dwarf made me feel creepy. I just wished he'd shave or something - he made me think of Prince. Maybe I was just in a bad mood. The theaters here in the US have undergone this tranformation by which "a" theater has been chopped into 15 "Multiplexes", so you're sitting with the screen on your lap and the sound so loud your hair is blowing back from the Dolby Surround Sound, and I get a headache. The Blond Elf guys were cute tho! Oh, hell yeah. That was well worth the $12! Hoooo baby! I didn't like "The Godfather" or "The English Patient" either, so you can't go by me. After any book introduces the 327th chracter, I glaze over. I guess I'm best just sticking to reading about parasitic twins and nanotechnology :) ~R~)

Comments : once, when i was eleven, i was riding my bike in my apartments. i stopped in the tennis courts and sat on one of the nets. it was an unusually clear, starry night for houston. i looked at the sky, at the stars, since those obviously give so many of us a different kind of comfort sometimes. one particular star caught my eye; it was tinted slightly gold, and twinkling away in the midst of several other, much dimmer stars. i watched it for a while. presently it began to blink, steadily and at even intervals, like a pulse. like someone flicking a flashlight on and off from millions of light years away. my eyes widened and watched it closer. it began to move. it did what seemed to be a loop in the sky, then turned bright red and pulsed a bit faster, then vanished. any comments? and no, it wasnt a damned lightning bug. we didnt have those in my area of the city, much less that time of year. i remember it being pretty cold that night.(tvelyn@hotmail.com)

(Hey Ashley babe, I LIKE Canada. I think Peter Jennings is hot. I'm hoping to make some friends there so when Bush II here starts us into WW3, I have someone to go stay with and don't get vaporized along with Great Lakes Naval Air Base here. I even have one of those funny hats with the furry ear flaps on it! And I can do that "ooo" thing like in "aboot" perfectly! (I learned that off the South Park movie, tho so maybe that's cheating). It makes quite an ensemble with my long black leather coat and knee-high fur boots in the winter, outside hacking the car out of 5" of ice. AND my tinfoil hat still will fit under it!
